“The fact of studying a scientific matter is not against the woman’s nature” says Luisa Rossi – Associate Professor in Mathematics Analysis. Discover the project “Girls can”!
Girls can
The video was realized as part of the project “Le ragazze possono 2: dal dire al fare” (Girls can 2: from talking to doing) carried out by the Politecnico of Milano from March to September 2016.
The video presents a series of women who are successful in STEM careers. The project had the aim of sensitizing and encouraging girls to the choice of a STEM career.
Particular attention was put to the very young girls (10-14 years) as well as potential start-uppers.
The project, carried out as part of the Lombardy Region initiative “Designing Parity in Lombardy – 2015”, had a duration of 9 months and was led by AIDIA, the Italian Association of Women Engineers and architects.
Teachers can show this 3 min 45 sec video (available in Italian and subtitled in English) to students in order to raise their awareness about STEM jobs and careers. The video, indeed, shows a lot of role models in STEM, included some very young girls.
